The Professor Anthony Osaigbovo Uwaifo Scholarship and Prize foundation is overseen by board members who are deeply invested in actualizing Professor A. O. Uwaifo’s vision for growth and investment in Biochemistry education. The oversight board and trustees, serve on a voluntary basis. They come from a range of disciplines, and backgrounds and this diversity is felt to bring unique strength to the shared mission and purpose.

The Board is committed to humanitarian and philanthropic empowerment.

Meet The Board and Trustees

  • Prof. Gabriel Uwaifo

    Prof Gabriel I. Uwaifo is a board-certified Internal Medicine and Endocrinology physician, physician scholar, clinician scientist and clinical researcher who is the son of the late Prof Anthony Uwaifo. He has practiced medicine both in Nigeria and currently in the United States. He is currently Professor of Medicine, Endocrinology, Diabetes, Metabolism, Clinical Nutrition and Weight Management at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield Illinois USA and the Program Director of the Endocrine fellowship there.

  • Prof. Solomon Owumi, (Ph.D)

    He is a Biochemist and Senior faculty at the University of Ibadan Dept of Biochemistry since 2008. He was a Shell Petroleum Development Company Scholar as and undergraduate Biochemistry student (1995-2000). Dr Owumi was a recipient of the AACR-NCI International Cancer Research Fellowship Awardee in 2010 by the American Association for Cancer Research.

  • Olalekan O. Oluwole, MBBS, MPH.

    Dr Oluwole specializes in the treatment of hematological malignancies using stem cell transplantation and cellular therapy. He is the leader of the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center (VICC) cellular therapy research program. His primary field of research is in improving the safety profile of cellular therapy through investigator-initiated intervention trials, multi-institution sponsored therapeutic research and national consortium outcomes research.

  • Prof. Adegboyega K. Oyelere

    Adegboyega K. Oyelere is a Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Georgia Tech, Atlanta, USA. He obtained B.Sc. in Chemistry (Industrial Option; First Class Honors) from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island, USA. He performed postdoctoral training in Chemistry, Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics in the laboratory of Professor Scott Strobel at Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut, USA.

  • Mr. Olugbenga Kolawole

    He is a double-certified Architect with both Nigerian and United Kingdom undergraduate certifications. He served as a Lecturer and Faculty Editor for 2 years at the European University of Lefke in Northern Cyprus. He then returned to serve his home country Nigeria in 2008 and he is currently the Chief Operating Officer of Quality Foods Africa.

  • Prof. Ruth Oyelere

    Prof. Ruth Oyelere holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley and is a Professor of Economics at Agnes Scott College, Atlanta Georgia. She currently serves as the Chair of the Department of Economics and Business Management there. Prof. Oyelere is a research fellow at both the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA), Bonn Germany, and Global Labor Organization (GLO).

    Risk management professional, who is the daughter of the late Prof Anthony Uwaifo. She currently lives in Lagos Nigeria and works for Unified Payments Nigeria Limited one of the foremost Fintechs in Nigeria. She is happily married with children
